چکیده

Geographic Information System (GIS) based on Internet as a promising research field brings new opportunities and challenges to geographic information accessing, sharing and disseminating. However, the inherent limitation of current Internet GIS architecture based on connection makes it incompetent to fulfil various requirements of GIS applications under dynamic, complicated and distributed computing environment such as the Mobile Internet. As a recently developed paradigm in distributed computing, mobile agent can especially benefit (Mobile) Internet applications on providing asynchronous task execution and more dynamics, supporting flexible and extensible cooperation, reducing communication bandwidth, enhancing real time abilities and higher degree of robustness, enabling off-line processing and disconnected operation. On the other hand, Geography Markup Language (GML) as an emerging standard of geographic information exchanging offers a new way to integrate geographic information on network. In this paper, we propose a new paradigm in constructing distributed GIS by combining mobile agent and GML technologies, in which mobile agent technology is used to overcome the inadequacy of other traditional distributed computing paradigms and GML to solve the heterogeneity problem of various GISs.

A Framework for Handling Mobile Objects in Location Based Services

In this paper we present the Web based framework that provides efficient management, tracking and displaying of data about mobile objects in Web based Geographic Information Systems (Web GIS) and Location Based Services (LBS) applications built on top of it. The proposed framework heavily exploits contemporary Web data exchange and display technologies such as XML, GML and SVG integrating geosp...

Modeling Gml and Svg Data for Web Gis

by LIANG ZOU (Under the Direction of Xiaobai Yao) ABSTRACT The development of geographic information system (GIS) is accomplished by increasing popularity of Internet GIS. However, currently most commercial Web GIS applications use proprietary data sets and employ raster images to disseminate maps. The traditional method of Web GIS lacks interoperability, efficiency and quality. To overcome the...

Network Perspective for Spatial Data Distribution on Wireless Environments

With regarding to web GIS, OGC promotes WFS allowing a client to retrieve geospatial data encoded in GML which is a modeling language to encode the semantics, syntax and schema of geospatial information resources. Even though GML provides benefits for geographic description, it is too heavy to be processed by mobile devices. In order to address the issue, this paper evaluates GML service with W...

GML Map Visualization on Mobile Devices

GIS can only be applied to certain areas by storing format. It is subordinate to a system when displaying geographic information data. It is therefore inevitable for GIS to use GML that supports efficient usage of various geographic information data and interoperability for integration and sharing. The paper constructs VisualGML that translates currently-used geographic information such as DXF ...
